President Donald Trump signed a National Security Presidential Memorandum to bolster the cybersecurity of the government's National Security Systems and modernize how they are governed, the White House said.
The directive is aimed at meeting the cyber challenges of 2026 and beyond, as adversaries probe critical networks with increasingly automated tools.

Officials and analysts have warned that energy, healthcare, government, water and transportation systems are prime targets for disruption, citing campaigns to compromise control systems within major utilities.
The memorandum seeks to tighten standards and accountability for the systems that handle the nation's most sensitive information.
